As many of you will know we run bucket collections during the pantomime run at Theatre Severn between Christmas and New Year. This all started back in 2009 when I first appeared in Shropshire and I asked Eric Smith if there was a good local children’s charity, without a seconds hesitation he told me all about Hope House.

Hope House Children’s Hospices provide care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families from Shropshire, Cheshire, North and Mid Wales. Having visited Hope House several times myself I’ve seen the amazing work they do, the staff are wonderful and it’s been our pleasure to collect money for them each year. In the last few years I, along with huge support from Theatre Severn Staff and the various cast members have gone out in the foyer after the performances between Christmas and New Year to collect for them. Special mention must also go to Maggie Love (Dance Teacher and Chaperone) who along with her Husband creates the themed displays in the foyer to help raise the profile of Hope House and the collection. It’s my absolute pleasure to announce that to date we have collected £42,290.68.

I wanted to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you who has thrown some coins and quite often the ‘folding stuff’ into the buckets, it’s an enormous amount of money but it’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the costs involved in running the two centres. I also wanted to say how thankful I am for the help of all the ushers, front of house teams and Theatre Severn staff who help facilitate the collections.

If you have any ideas on further fundraising you can contact me here but do also take a look for yourself at the unbelievable work that is being done at Hope House here.

Thank you once again for your generous support, x
